A glass of milk

I don’t know with you but for me it’s very hard to get out of bed when you just felt the comfort of your bed and your pillows after a long day.

One night, while I’m catching my sleep, my mom asked me to get her a glass of milk because she can’t sleep. I had the choice whether to get it for her or spill it off and regret for not obeying her. While I get out of bed, I reminded myself that what I do is for the LORD. I carefully got her the milk and went back to bed. That simple? No. It’s pretty hard. It’s a battle within me. But if you do it for the person you love, it’s a no brainer.

Motion before emotion.

We should live our lives pleasing to the LORD. In 2 Corinthians 5:9 it says, “So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.” Setting aside the physical weariness and having a sincere heart in pleasing the LORD through our obedience to our parents. As we are commanded in Ephesians 6 “Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.”
I am not writing this because I always obeyed my mom. No. I failed million times. In this instance, fortunately, it was Christ’s love that compelled me to do it. It’s His unwavering and unconditional love that makes us want to please Him.

I saw this art by a child in one of the VBS. Credits to Hanny. I just saw her name written at the bottom part of the paper.

We are to reflect Jesus’ light to others that they will see in us the difference. That they will see a transformed life in us; a life living solely for the LORD and not for self. 2 Corinthians 5:15b “Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. “ So that no one will stumble because of us. 2 Corinthians 6:3 “We live in such a way that no one will stumble because of us.” But rather, being Christ’s representatives. 2 Corinthians 5:20 “So we are Christ’s ambassadors.”

God’s love knows no bounds and so should our love for others be. We will never be perfect in loving others no matter what we do because if we love the LORD we will love what and whom He loves. Hosea 14:4 “The LORD says, “Then I will heal you of your faithlessness; my love will know no bounds.”

Obeying the LORD comes with benefits. It may be hard to get a glass of water or milk for my mom while I’m comfortably lying on my bed but it made me wanted to obey her more because of that first step. Showing your love to your parents is seen by the LORD and what you do will never be wasted. It deepened my relationship with mom somehow knowing that her daughter respects and obeys her.

And the most important thing is resisting the temptation of disobedience and feeding the white dog. Making the LORD smile above all else. In 2 Corinthians 10:18 it says, “The most important thing is for the LORD to commend them.” Seeking God’s approval over men’s approval. 2 Corinthians 6:8 “We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us.”

And this action of love can only be done through the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us because if that was me, I am pretty sure that I will fail. Choosing to be controlled by the Holy Spirit rather than picking my selfish desires to get longer hours of sleep. 2 Corinthians 6:6 “We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.”

And our love must go the extra mile. Mom asked me to massage her after getting her water. This was another incident two days after the milk. It’s easier to obey now because of having the right mindset of obedience through my quiet times. It’s about your heart. It’s about your heart for me, Michelle.

There’s no way that we can make up for the spilled milk unless you pour in again milk (But it’s not yet too late to change our ways.). So, before it spills, act on it. Not by defying the gravity but by obeying.

What’s your glass of milk?

Back to Basics

This is how I look like most of the week. On my screen talking to people—- virtually. This quarantine season has changed my life- a bunch. It brought me back to reality- doing the basics. I practiced my calligraphy drills, I learned how to piano, helped in the chores more than ever, bought meds and groceries for the family, got sick with the government (thankfully, didn’t get subpoenaed), helped our neighbors and driver, guards and juliets at work, shared the gospel to a bike  boy whom I rode for consecutively, read, did some arts, cleaned the house for n number of times, worked out AND CLUNG ON TO JESUS. This season taught me that I have no good thing apatrt from Christ. And that good thing is only Christ. And I would not know that if I don’t surrender to His Lordship and His will. I would have bad dreams night after night, but I have to fight it off in the morning and walk with Jesus again. It is a conscious effort to guard what I think of and fix my gaze on the author and per

Short

In a short span of time that I got to know Tita has really impacted my life. I shall try to share specific things here so that I get to record how she has encouraged me. The only picture we got together.  I shall start with why the title is short. We were going to minister to a place where our mission trip team went a month prior my mom and I’s visit. We were walking and she made ayos my shorts after it was creased.  That was I think the first time I knew she cared.   I am usually jittery when meeting the mom of the man that I like. But with her, she made me feel comfortable. Pero at first, natakot din ako kasi I know na di ako umaarte like kung sino talaga ako, yun ang ipapakita ko. I don’t set my best foot forward because I know eventually, she would know me and she would know who I really am. I am very takot not to be accepted. Lalo na that is my fear— to not be liked by my future mother-in-law if the Lord wills. But on our vacation time, we got the news that she got sick. This has

Freedom

Grace. I don’t deserve it. This covid pandemic has somewhat hardened my heart. It has shown my worst. And I believe that this is what really is inside me which haven’t surfaced until now. My flaws were magnified and it has sounded an alarm that I need to work on myself. That because of the too many work that needs attention, I had set myself aside. Whil reading a book on emotionally healthy spirituality, it has shown me that I am no superwoman. That I cannot change the world. That I can only do so much. And God is after my being with Him more than doing things for Him. So that is what I am planning to do as this year closes. But before that, I would love to go back to what happened last July why I started this blog with one word. Birthdays have never been a big deal for me. I enjoy having my birthday with no one knowing about it except my family. Maybe because I didn’t want to expect. I grew up loving my birthdays because of my family. But, there came a point in our life where we strug
